The NEFSC in their Status of the Ecosystem New England Report has a graph showing a forage index indicating the amount of forage biomass that is available, It also has a chart which shows the energy density of various species of prey which is described in this paper.
Is there anything out there that ties these two together in a report of energy density of the forage base over time?
### Limitations (No Single “Total Forage Energy” Time Series Yet)
There is **not** (yet) a single aggregated time-series index that multiplies the full stomach-based forage biomass index by a weighted average ED across all 21 taxa for every year back to the 1980s. The modern ED sampling (2017+) is newer and focused on a core set of 8 species, while the biomass index spans a longer period with broader species coverage. However, the SOE reports are actively building and integrating these datasets exactly for this purpose, and the conceptual/combined presentation is already there. (LINK)
